Transporters and lorry workers would strike and refuse to take vegetables and milk. etc. from rural areas due to the increasing prices of diesel and petrol.

The following points state the consequences of transport and lorry workers going on a strike-

  1. Urban Areas- As the question also states, food will be scarce in urban areas.
  2. High Prices- The prices of all the edible commodities also increase and the middle class and poor people will not be able to afford even the necessities of their day-to-day life.
  3. Effect on National GDP- As we know, India's GDP constitutes about 70% of what comes from the agricultural sector, so the National GDP will also fall drastically due to such a strike.
  4. Difficulties in traveling- Apart from affecting the country's economy and vegetable and edible supply, such kind of a strike will also bother other people who travel by road. It will not let them use the highways on the borders of different states.
  5. Undernourished Children- The children who are malnourished already will not get the required nutrients in time so, the number of deaths that happen every year due to malnourishment will increase on a large scale.

Hence, people in the industrial and service sector must get their food on time because such strikes worsen the conditions.
