Per capita income is the average income of a country. A country's development and prosperity depends on many aspects like security, health facility, educational facility, how easily the basic amenities are accessible to people etc. Only having a high per capita income doesn't guarantee the people are leading a happy and healthy life. Also it doesn't show the true picture of the income of a country. The income of people living in metropolitan cities is much more than the people living in rural area. So the living conditions of people in rural areas may not be as good as that of people in urban areas.
