Answer:

Given:

A bookseller buys 500 pencil at rupees 4 each he sells 300 of them at rupees 5 each and the rest at rupees 6 each

To find:

Find his gain percent

Solution:

He brought 500 pencils at 4 each =500 \times 4=\mathrm{Rs} .2000=500×4=Rs.2000

He sold 300 at Rs.5, 300 \times 5=1500300×5=1500

Rest of the pencils = 500 – 300= 200 were sold at 6 rupees each, =200 \times 6=1200=200×6=1200

The total pencils were sold at = 1500 + 1200 = 2700.

He gained 700 rupees, hence 2000 \times \frac{x}{100}=7002000×

100

x

=700

x = 35%
