Percent by mass of solute in its aqueous solution is 28 and molar mass is 28 gram calculate the mole fraction and molality of the solute in the solution.

Answer: Mass of the aqueous solution is 28. Molar mass is 28. Therefore molality is 28/28 = 1.


We know the mole fraction of a solution is the ratio between the numbers of moles present in a component after made a solution to the total moles of all components in a solution.

➡️Given percent by mass = 28
that means in 100g of solution the mass of solute is 28g and therefore mass of solvent =100-28=72.

(taking the solvent to be water)
 
moles of solute = 28/28 = 1.                [mass/GMM]
moles of solvent = 72/18 = 4
 
therefore molefraction (X)= 1/(4+1)=1/5=0.2

molality (m)= (moles of solute/mass of solvent)*1000
                   =(1/72)*1000=13.88.
