Hey Friend,
Ammonium Nitrate - NH4NO3
Atomic weights -
1. N = 14
2. H = 1
3. O = 16
Therefore, molecular weight of NH4NO3..
= 14 + 4 + 14 + 48
= 80 g per mole
Molecular weight of NH4..
= 14 + 4
= 18 g per mole
percentage = molecular weight of element x number of atoms of composition that element x 100 / molecular weight of compound
Therefore,
%of NH4 in NH4NO3 = 18 x 1 x 100 / 80
= 22.5 %
Therefore, 22.5 % of NH4 is the answer.
Hope it helps!
