Given:

Hydrated compound is H_{2}C_{2}O_{4} .2H_{2}O

To Find:

Percentage of water of crystallization in  H_{2}C_{2}O_{4} .2H_{2}O

Solution:

Molar mass of  H_{2}C_{2}O_{4} .2H_{2}O = 126.08 gmol^{-1}

Molar mass of 2H_{2}O                 = 36.04 gmol^{-1}

Percentage of water of crystallization in H_{2}C_{2}O_{4} .2H_{2}O is the ration between molar mass of water with total mass of hydrated compound multiplied by 100

% of water of crystallization = \dfrac{36.04}{126.08}

                                              = 0.2859 × 100

                                              =  28.59%

Anhydrous compound can be formed by heating the hydrated compound.

Anhydrous compound is the compound without water.
