Dear! you have confused one sentence with the other. Those two sentences were written separately and have no relation with one another. Fertile alluvial soil favours rapid production of rice. Sometimes, in some portions of the country, several parts of alluvial soils are seen to be little sandy but in this case, it is not written in your book that the rice grows in such condition.

MUST TO REMEMBER -

  • The alluvial soils are generally found nearer the river basins.
  • Alluvial soils contain huge amount of humus and potash.
  • Fertile alluvial soil favours rapid development and growth of crops like rice, wheat, cotton, sugarcane and jute.
