Perform the following activity to further enhance the contents covered. Record your observations and answer the questions based on it.
Step1. Take two transparent glasses.
Step 2. Fill one glass with cold water and the other with hot water to the same level.
Step 3. Add few drops of ink of any colour.
Q1. Record the time taken by both the glasses to completely change the colour of water.
Q2. Explain your observation.
Q3. Name and define the process involved in the above activity.

You should have noticed that the ink in the hot water dispersed much more quickly than the ink in the cold water did. This is because particles vibrate faster and harder when they’re warmer.

This process is called diffusion. We can say that diffusion is a physical process where molecules of a material move from an area of high concentration (where there are many molecules) to an area of low concentration (where there are fewer molecules)until it has reached equilibrium (molecules evenly spread).

Thus , we can conclude that the rate of diffusion increases  with rise in temperature.
