Answer:

length = 5.1m

breadth = 1.7m

Step-by-step explanation

2/5 of perimeter of square = 2/5 x 40 =16

perimeter of rectangle is 2.4 m less then perimeter of square

perimeter of rectangle =16-2.4

perimeter of rectangle  =13.6

breadth=l/3 (given)

13.6 = 2x(length + breadth )

13.6 = 2x (length + length/3)

13.6/2 = (length + length/3 )

take 3 as a lcm

6.8 = 3 length + length/3

6.8 = 4 length /3

6.8 x 3 = 4 length

20.4 = 4 length

20.4/4 = length

5.1 = length

length = 5.1m

breadth= length/3

breadth = 5.1/3

breadth = 1.7m

hence length and breadth of rectangle is 5.1m and 1.7 m respectively
