Answer:

Length of the rectangle = 5.1 m

 Breadth of the rectangle = 1.7 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Given, perimeter of square = 40 m

           perimeter of rectangle = 2/5 ( perimeter of square ) - 2.4

                                               = 2/5 ( 40 ) - 2.4

                                               = 13.6 m

Let, the length of rectangle = x

      the breadth of rectangle = x/3

Perimeter of the rectangle = 2 ( length + breadth )

                                         = 2 ( x + x/3 )

                                         = 2 ( 3x/3 + x/3 )

                                         = 2 ( 4x/3 )

                                         = 8x/3

We have found the perimeter of the rectangle through the perimeter of square.

Let's equate them both,

                               8x/3 = 13.6

                               8x = 13.6 * 3

                               8x = 40.8

                               x = 40.8 / 8

                               x = 5.1 m

∴ Length of the rectangle = 5.1 m

  Breadth of the rectangle = 5.1 / 3 = 1.7 m

Thanks......

Hope it helps......
