Answer :

  • Breadth of rectangle is 5m

Given :

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 24m
  • Length of a rectangle is 2m more than its breadth

To find :

  • Breadth of rectangle

Solution :

  • Let the breadth of rectangle be x

Given that , Length of a rectangle is 2m more than its breadth then ,

  • Length of rectangle = x + 2m

As we know that,

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

where , l is length (x + 2m) and b is breadth (x)

And also Given that , Perimeter of rectangle is 24m

⟾ Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + breadth)

⟾ 24 = 2(x + 2 + x)

⟾ (x + 2 + x) = 24/2

⟾ x + 2 + x = 12

⟾ 2x + 2 = 12

⟾ 2x = 12 - 2

⟾ 2x = 10

⟾ x = 10/2

⟾ x = 5cm

Hence , Breadth of rectangle is 5m

  • Length of rectangle = x + 2 = 5 + 2 = 7m
  • Breadth of rectangle = x = 5m

Verification :

As we know that,

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + breadth)

where, length is 7cm and breadth is 5m

⟾ 2(7 + 5)

⟾ 2(12)

⟾ 24 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Question:-

The perimeter of the rectangle is 24 metres,if the length of the rectangle is 2 metres more than its breadth.Find the breadth of a rectangle.

Answer:-

Given :-

The given figure is a rectangle.

The perimeter of the rectangle is 24m.

The length of the rectangle is 2m more than breadth.

To find :-

Breadth of the rectangle

Process :-

Let the Breadth be x and length be (x+2).

As we all know:-

Perimeter \: of \: \: rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth) \\ \\

Inserting the values in the

formula:-

⇒24 = 2 ( x + x + 2 )

⇒ 24 = 2 × 2x + 2

⇒24 = 4 × 2x

⇒ 4 × 2x = 24

⇒2x = 24 ÷ 4

⇒2x = 8

⇒ x = 8 ÷ 2

⇒x = 4

∴ Substituting the values :-

Breadth = x = 4m

Length = x + 2 = 4 + 2 = 6m
