Perimeter of rectangle=2*(length+breadth)

34=2*(length+5)

17=length+5

Length=17–5=12

In a rectangle , length,breadth and diagonal form right angled triangle with diagonal as hypotenuse and the sides containing right angle are length and breadth

From pythogorus theorem ,

Hypotenuse^2=side^2+side^2

Diagonal^2=length^2+breadth^2

Diagonal^2=12*12+5*5

Diagonal^2=144+25=169=13^2

Diagonal=13

Therefore the diagonal of given rectangle is 13cm.Notice that two diagonals of the rectangle are equal in length. Hence the length of other diagonal is also equal to 13cm

Answer:

diagonal=13cm

Step-by-step explanation:

given

perimeter =34cm

breadth=5cm

let length=x

2×(l+b)=34

l+5=34/2

L=17-5=12

diagonal=square root of L^2+b^2

=square root of 144+25 = square root of 169

=13cm

therefore diagonal =13cm
