Let length be x+4 cm

And breadth be x cm

By the problem,

2(x+4+x)=40

Or 2x+8+2x=40

Or 4x=32

Or x=8

Length=8+4

=12 cm

Breadth=8 cm

Answer:

Length = 12 cm , Breadth = 8 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Perimeter of Rectangle = 2(l+b)

                                       = 2(4+b+b) = 40 cm

                                       = 2(4+2b) = 40 cm

                                       = 4+2b = 40/2 = 20

                                       = 2b = 20-4 = 16

                                        = b = 16/2 = 8 cm

So, b = 8 cm and Lenght is 4+8 = 12 cm
