Perimeter = 2(l+b)

42 cm = 2(3x+5 +x) let the width be x

42 = 6x + 10 + 2x

42 = 8x + 10

42 - 10 = 8x

32 = 8x

4 =x

length - 3x+5 = 17cm

width - x = 4cm

Answer:

breadth = x = 4cm

length = 3(4cm) + 5cm

= 12cm + 5 cm

= 17cm

Step-by-step explanation:

breadth = x

length = 3x + 5cm

perimeter of rectangles

= 2(l+b) = 42cm

=) 2 (3x+5cm+x) = 42cm

=) 2( 4x + 5cm) = 42cm

=) 8x + 10cm = 42cm

=) 8x = 42 -10

=) 8x = 32

=) x = 32/8

=) x = 4
