Let each side of a square ABCD be x cm,whose

diagonals = AC= BD= 12cm

Area of square = x^2 sq. cm.

In right angled triangleABC,

AB^2+ BC^2 = AC^2

x^2 + x^2 = 12^2

2x^2 = 144

x^2 = 72
