Answer:Let the congruent sides of the isosceles triangle =a.

Perimeter of the triangle =

Sum of all sides = a + a + b =36

=>2a+16=36

On solving, a =10cm

Since the height of the triangle, divides it into two right-angled triangles,

a^2=h^2+(b/2)2

10^2=h^2+8^2

h2=100-64=36

h=√36 = 6cm

Area of triangle=1/2xbasexheight

1/2x16x6 = 48 sq cm
