perimeter of rectangle= 2( l+b)

length= 2+b and breadth= b

24=2(2+b+b)

12=2+2b

10= 2b

b= 5 metres

Given:

✰ A perimeter of rectangle = 24 m

✰ The length of a rectangle is 2 m more than breadth.

To find:

✠ The breadth of rectangle.

Solution:

Let's understand the concept first! We will calculate the breadth of rectangle by using formula of perimeter of rectangle. First we will assume that the breadth of a rectangle as x and we know that the length of a rectangle is 2 m more than breadth i.e, we will add 2 to its breadth which is equal to it's length ( x + 2 ).

Let's find out...✧

Let the breadth of a rectangle be x.

Then, the length of a rectangle be x + 2.

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 ( l + b )

➤ 24 = 2 ( 2 + x + x )

➤ 24 = 2 ( 2 + 2x )

➤ 24 = 4 + 4x

➤ 4x = 24 - 4

➤ 4x = 20

➤ x = 20/4

➤ x = 5

The breadth of rectangle = 5 m

What if we need to find the length of rectangle?

Let's find out..

➛ The length of rectangle = x + 2

➛ The length of rectangle = 5 + 2

➛ The length of rectangle = 7 m
