Answer:

perimeter = 2(l + b) \\  \\ 62 = 2(2x - 1 + x + 1) \\  \\  \frac{62}{2}  = 3x \\  \\ 3x = 31 \\  \\ x =  \frac{31}{3}

GIVEN:

Perimeter of the rectangle = 62 cm

Length = (2x-1) cm

Breadth = (x+1) cm

TO FIND:

The value of 'X'

SOLUTION:

Formula for perimeter of a rectangle is:-

==> 2(length + breadth)

Since, length = (2x-1) cm and Breadth = (x+1) cm

Perimeter of the rectangle = 2 [(2x-1)+(x+1)]

= 2 [2x - 1 + x + 1]

= 2 [3x]

= 6x

It's given that perimeter is 62 cm.

This means that, 6x = 62

==> x = 62/6

==> x = 10.33 cm

∴ Value of x = 10.33 cm

ANSWER: X = 10.33 cm

Additional Information

Since, the value of X is found, we can now find the value of length and breadth.

Length = 2x-1 = 2(10.33) -1 = 19.66 cm

Breadth = x+1 = 10.33 + 1 = 11.33 cm
