perimetre=32

length=3x
breadth=x

perimeter= 2(a+b)=32
2(3x+x)=32
6x+2x=32
8x=32
x=32÷8
×=4
lenght of the table=3x
=3×4=12

Concept:

Perimeter is the sum of all sides of any polygon in the case of the circle it is known as the circumference.

Given:

The perimeter of the top of a table = 32 cm

Length is 3 times the breadth.

Find:

We are asked to find the length of the table.

Solution:

We have,

The perimeter of the top of a table = 32 cm

Length is 3 times the breadth.

So,

Let, Breadth = x

Then, Length = 3x

Now,

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(Length + breadth)

So,

32 = 2(3x + x)

32 = 2(4x)

32 = 8x

⇒ x = 4 cm

i.e. Breadth = x = 4 cm

And, Length = 3x = 3 × 4 = 12 cm

Hence we can say that the length of the table is 12 cm.
