can I answer after work I'm busy right now
Answer:
Well, first the letter needs to ask how can there be an accommodation for a child in a hand plaster? I would not say “because my child is in a hand plaster s/he cannot wear the uniform and should be excused”. why?
-Because the pants or skirt can be worn, so no cause to excuse the lower part of the uniform.
-Because a shirt or blouse can be rolled up at the sleeve, so the plastered had can fit through it. That means the shirt/blouse is NOT excused from wear, and even a tie can be worn (with help from a parent).
So, what is the item that should be excused? the jacket or blazer as that cannot comfortably fit over a plastered hand. That is a reasonable accommodation.
Dear Principle Smith;
Our son/daughter Don/Debbie has had an unfortunate accident and is now in a hand cast. Of course we do not want him/her to miss any classes but given the uniform requirement, we are asking for an accommodation. While Don/Debbie can wear most of the uniform, the blazer will not fit over the plastered hand. As such we are requesting that Don/Debbie be excused from wearing the blazer while s/he must wear the cast.
Don/Debbie has a school nylon sport jacket/sweater that s/he can wear over the plastered hand. Can s/he wear this in lieu of the formal blazer? Do you have other recommendations? We would appreciate your response as quickly as possible.
