(X×Y)/X+Y=(48×60)/108= 80/3, 1: 40 min will be the answer

Person A takes 48 mins to complete the work

⇒ 1 min = 1/48 of the work

Person B takes 60 mins to complete the work

⇒ 1 min = 1/60 of the work

Find the amount of work that can be done if both worked together for 1 hour:

1 hour = 1/48 + 1/60 =  3/80

Find the number of hours for both of them to complete the work together:

3/80 of the work = 1 hour

1/80 of the work = 1 ÷ 3  = 1/3 hour

80/80 of the work = 1/3 x 80 = 26.67 hours or 26 hours and 40 mins

Answer: They can finish the work in 26 hours 40 mins if they worked together.
