Step-by-step explanation:

Let the age of the person and his mother be x/2 years and x years.

Ten years ago:

person age = (x/2 - 10) years

mother age = ( x - 10 ) years

According to the question :

3(x/2 - 10) = x - 10

3(x - 20/2 ) = x - 10

3x - 60 = 2 ( x - 10)

3x - 60 = 2x - 20

3x - 2x = (-20) + 60

x = 40

Hence , the current age of mother is 40 years

and the person is 40 / 2 = 20 years
