Tips to answer a personal response question:
- Clarity- Whether it is a 'yes' or a 'no' or a mix of the two, make sure that it is clearly conveyed to the reader.
- Give at least two reasons- Think about why you check for the source of the food or why you don't.
- Evaluate- Identify what other areas food production and consumption are connected with. Then evaluate whether you should trace the source of food or not.
- Conclusion- Figure out ways to get the information you want and how you think it will make a difference.
Some information you can use:
- Why I don't ask about the source of the food- I usually do not buy the vegetables and groceries.
- We are always preoccupied with other things to give that much attention to food. Food gets attention only for consumption purposes, but never for sourcing reasons.
- Connectedness- the environment, local economy, use of pesticides, freshness and health quotients are all connected to the food we consume.
- Conclusion- Ask the farmers, stick to buying local produce, fresher, can visit farms to check, promote the local economy, reduce transportation, so lesser global warming.
