​pescud is short and not the stuff heroes are made off. yet he wins jessie. what do you think were the main reasons that went in his favour?

Pescud has other qualitive traits that entinced and impressed both Jessie and father.He's quick-witted and won over the Colonel with his anecdotes and show of a steady nerve.The way he presented himself , with his persistent(although clumsy) tracking off the young girl charmed her and convinced her that he was just not fooling around.Moreover, he had a lucrative profession and his prospects were good.

Outward beauty is not always the reason for winning your love ...although pescud was not a handsome man , he was able to win over his love, jessie  because he has an inner beauty and was a sincere person ..his love was true ..and he did not lie about himself or tried to fool colonel .... his this quality impressed Jessie as well as her father ...
