Petals are modified leaves often brightly colored or unusually shaped to attract pollinators. Petals of Arabidopsis flowers bear chloroplast while the flower is still closed up in the bud.As the petal matures, the chloroplast are changed into a different kind of plastid, but the chloroplast remained in the base of the petal.
