Given:

✰ Peter can run 10 kilometers in 2 hours at a steady rate.

To find:

✠ How long will it take him to run 30 kilometers.

Solution:

We will solve this question by unitary method.

  • A method in which the value of a unit quantity is first obtained to find the value of any required quantity is known as unitary method.

First we will find how much time will be taken by Peter to run 1 kilometre distance and then we will find the time taken by him to run 30 kilometers.

➛ Time taken to travel 10 km distance = 2 h

➛ Time taken to travel 1 km distance = 2/10

➛ Time taken to travel 1 km distance = 0.2 h

Now,

➛ Time taken to travel 30 km distance = 0.2 × 30

➛ Time taken to travel 30 km distance = 6 h

It will take 6 hours by Peter to run 30 kilometers distance.
