peter is three times as old as jasmine.five years from now. the sum of there ages will be twice Peter's present age.what is the present age of Peter?​

Given :-

Let the Jasmine's Present age be "x"

Peter's Present age = 3x.

To Find :-

Present age of Peter.

After 5 Years from Now,

Peter's age = 3x+5yrs

Jasmine's age = x+5yrs

Atq.

Peter's age + Jasmine's age = 2(Peter's age).

3x+5 + x+5 = 2(3x)

4x + 10 = 6x

2x = 10

x = 5 .

Now Put the value of x.

Peter's Present age = 3x. = 3× 5 = 15yrs.

Hence, The Peter's Present age is 15yrs

VERIFICATION

  • the sum of there ages will be twice Peter's present age

Peter's age + Jasmine's age = 2(Peter's age).

3x+5 + x+5 = 2(3x)

3(5)+5 +5+5 = 2(15)

15 + 5 +5 +5 = 30

30 = 30.

The present age of Peter is three times as old as jasmine

Thus ,

Age of peter = 3x

Second Condition :

After five years , The sum of there ages will be twice Peter's present age

Thus ,

(3x + 5) + (x + 5) = 2(3x)

4x + 10 = 6x

2x = 10

x = 10/2

x = 5
