..Peter puts his hands into two beakers of different temperature, one being iced water and the other being hot water. (1) and (2) options could be the possible results as tap water is normal in temperature neither hot nor cold. So, Peter felts cold in which hand he put in the hot water beaker and hot in which hand he put cold water in the beaker. As a result, tap water interchange the feeling. You would also have observed that when you put your hand in some hot things so it is being preferred to keep your hand in cold or tap water for 2 - 3 minutes.
