Peter was observing life cell of onion in Biology Laboratory and she observed cell wall cytoplasm and nucleus clearly said we have friends who is win chemistry experiments build few drops of salt water on the slide away sometime Pita observed is landform changes what would have been changed in the life cell of onion peel after adding salt water

it will shrink as it will be an hypertonic solution and the higher concentration will be out from the inner concentration

When salt water drops are added to onion cells, the cytoplasm releases out of the cell and moves towards the hypertonic solution (salt water).

Explanation:

  • The cells lose water due to osmosis as a result cell shrinks. The whole process of plasmolysis and resulted shrunken cells can be observed under microscope.
  • Salt water is a hypertonic solution which consist of less solute such as sugar or salt than a plant or animal cell. When the onion protoplasts are kept under the salt solution, the protoplasts shrink due to water loss (cytoplasmic content) from the cell and the process is called as plasmolysis.
