Petrol and kerosene are mixed in the ratio of 7:14. Total volume of the mixture is 500 litres. Find the composition of petrol in the overall mixture?

Then, 7x + 14x = 500

         21x = 500

          x = 500/21

          x = 23.809523

therefore, 7x = 7 x 23.809523 = 166.666661 = 166.7

                14x = 14 x 23.809523 = 333.333322 = 333.3

therefore , 166.7 + 333.3 = 500

Volume of Petrol = 166.7 L

Volume of Kerosene = 333.3 L
