Petrol does not react with sodium or potassium. But it is not selected for preserving sodium or potassium metals. Why?

Petrol is harder to handle and is more volatile -- this is why the alternative of Kerosene is preferred.

Because the petrol is highly volatile and flammable than kerosene.
