Essay on Petroleum Conservation
Petroleum is one of the most used fossil fuels in the world it is a yellowish liquid which people use in their vehicles to travel.
The amount of petroleum around the world is decreasing day by day. People must understand that if this best fossil fuels exhausted, the future generation would be missing a lot in their lives.
There are a lot of ways by which we can conserve petroleum.
1. Stop idling – If stuck in traffic don't keep vehicles on idle. This is consuming petrol so turn off the vehicles and save energy.
2. Remove excess weight – When we put excessive weight on a vehicle, the mileage of the vehicle gets reduced due to which it consumes more petroleum and energy. So, if someone wants to conserve petroleum, one should stop putting excess weight on their vehicles.
3. Correct tire pressure – Always keep the correct amount of pressure in vehicle tires. If the pressure of the vehicle doesn’t get set to a correct rate, then the vehicle will consume a lot of energy and petroleum.
4. Follow the speed limits – If the specified speed limits get followed less fuel is consumed. Researches show that the average life of vehicles can be increased ten times if speed limit is maintained.
5. Use air conditions only when needed – Air Conditioners consume a lot of petroleum and energy and that is why people should to turn off AC when it is not in use.
6. Try to use public transports – Most people use their personal cars and vehicles to travel to their work place. However, if public transport is used by them a lot of petroleum can be saved
Petroleum and various other fossil fuels need to be conserved since these resources are getting depleted day by day. Each one of us can contribute to the cause of petroleum conservation in every way possible.
Answer: Petroleum is the inflammable mixture of hydrocarbons, comprising of gaseous, liquid and solid materials. Etymologically, ‘Petroleum’ evolved from two Latin words, Petra and Oleum —petra denotes rock, oleum —oil. So, formerly, it was believed that petroleum was originated from rock. Though this theory had been discarded long ago, the name remains!
Petroleum—alias ‘black gold’ — is the latest entrant in the field of fossil fuel. It was only on 27th August 1859 that the first oil-well was constructed by Colonel Edwin L. Drake at Titusville, Pennsylvania in U.S.A. Since then the meteoric rise of this fossil as a source of fuel in the global energy scene was spectacular — soon it surpassed all other traditional sources of fuel.
