The source of petroleum in the subsurface called reservoir. The every reservoir rock has a cap rock unless the reservoirs are not formed. The cap rock prevent the upward migration of oil and gas.

In the Arab area the cap rock is not formed. So all the petroleum present in that area comes to the surface and evaporates the less carbon content like petrol etc… the remaining present in that area is high carbon content like asphalt, bitumen. This is the reason for petroleum present in the sand of Arab area.
