Hii

you are welcome in my ans

Phosphorus have vacant d orbital in its valence cell and can extend its covelency but fluorine have no such vacant d orbital to extend its covelency so PCl5 exist but NF3 not .

what is d orbital and how its vacant for p not in N

d orbital are called degenerated orbital having energy 10dq .

phosphorus configuration

1s2 ,2s2,2p6,3s2,3p3 in the configuration we observe that between 3p and 3s there is 3d orbital too which is vacant

but in

NF3

1s2 ,2s2 ,2p3 there is no d orbital

Hope it may helps you✊✌️
