 phenols can remove its hydrogen to make it more stable. The ion is called the phenol ate ion.

Phenol = C6H6O
Ethanol = C2H5OH

As the conjugate baste of phenol is more stable than ethanol , so it will more acidic than ethanol

Heya,

Phenol is more acidic than alcohol.

This is because of the effect of resonance phenoxide is less alkaline than alkoxide and thus making phenol more reactive than alcohol

Phenol can easily give away hydrogen ions.

Hope it helps u..
