Karl Marx thought that industrial society was capitalist.the money invested in factories was owned by capitalists and their profit was provided by the factory workers. He believed that unless the profit was accumulated by private capitalists and that workers had to overthrow capitalism and the rule of private property. He thought  that to free themselves from capitalism , workers had to construct a radically socialist society where all property was controlled. This would create a communist society. He believed that a communist society will liberate Russia .
Hope it helps you.
