Phosphorus react Cl2 to produce PCl3 according to reaction-
P4 + 6Cl2---> 4PCl3
If the density of PCl3 is 1.2g/cc.

Answer:

Mass of PCl3

= 13.75 × 1000 × 1.2 g

= 13750 × 1.2 g

= 16500 g = 16.5 Kg

Moles of PCl3

= 16.5 ÷ (31+35.5×3) ×1000 mol

= 16500 ÷ 137.5 mol

= 120 moles

According to Reaction,

4 moles of PCl3 is produced by 1 mole of P4

Thus,

No. of moles of P4 req.

= 120 ÷ 4 = 30 moles

Mass of Phosphorus req.

= 30×31×4 ÷1000 Kg

= 3.72 Kg
