Light is essential for photosynthesis to occur because it is the source of energy, so it doesnt occur during the night. However, CAM plants have the capability to run the light reactions during the day (when there is light) and the Calvin cycle at night.

Actually photosynthesis reaction is completed in two phases:-

1)First phase is day reaction, and

2) Second phase is night reaction

In day reaction, photolysis of water molecule occurs that's why sun light is required. If you provide light(tube light) in night then also photolysis of water may takes place in some extent.

In night reaction i.e. in absence of sun light, the reduction reaction of CO2 is completed. The hydrogen required for CO2 reduction reaction is used produced during photolysis of water in day reaction .

However cellular respiration occurs 24 hours in all living cells. There is no restriction of day/night.It maybe aerobic or anaerobic i.e. it depends on types of cells or position of cells.

Prokaryotic cell respires by anaerobic process whereas the Eukaryotic cell respire by aerobic process.

The root cells and muscle cells respire anaerobically when there is lack of oxygen.
