In prokaryotes photosynthesis occurs on the folds and in eukaryotes as it is present in specialized organelles.

Prokaryotic cells do not have distant nucleus and particular organelles.

In photosynthesizing prokaryotes, the reaction takes place within the system of folded membranes near the cell membrane known as mesosomes.

In eukaryotes, all organelles are fully specialized and chloroplasts are founds as double membrane organelle for accommodating photosynthesis.
