A verb takes on different meanings when it is combined with different prepositions
This combination is called a phrasal verb. For example, pick up, walk into and
put on are examples of phrasal verbs.
Look at the different meanings of phrasal verbs with pat,
put on: to wear something
put off: to delay doing something
• put away: to store for future use
put up: to build something such
as a wall, fence or a house
put out: to extinguish (a fire)
put in: to spend a certain amount
