Phrasal verbs
A phrasal verb is formed by combining a verb with a preposition or an adverb.
A phrasal verb does not mean the same as the verb itself. It changes according to the word that
follows it. For example:
work out
make up for
Here, the phrasal verb, work out could mean either calculating or engaging in vigorous physical
exercise. This is different from the meaning of the verb, work.
