Answer:

The specific heat capacity at constant pressure,

        Cp=ΔQ/ΔT

Similarly, Cv=ΔU/ΔT

The work done against external pressure ΔW=P.ΔV

Using First Law of Thermodynamics,

     ΔQ=Δu+ΔW

Cp.ΔT=Cv.ΔT+P.ΔV

From ideal gas equation,

                   P.ΔV=R.ΔT

Therefore,

  Cp.ΔT=Cv.ΔT+R.ΔT (Cancelling ΔT)

 Cp=Cv+R

Therefore, Cp-Cv=R . This is Mayer's Relation
