Physical Properties Of Metals and Non - Metals:

  • Lustre: Metals are lusturous they have a shining surface. Non metals are non lusturous they do not have a shining surface. Exception: Graphite and Iodine.

  • Malleability: Metals can be easily beaten into thin sheets. Silver and Gold are the most malleable metal. Non metals cannot be beaten into thin sheets.

  • Ductility: Metals can be drawn into thin wires. Non metals are non ductile they cannot be drawn into thin wires.

  • Sonority: Metals are sonorous meaning they produce a clanging sound while being hit. Non metals are non sonorous they do not produce sound on being hit.

  • Density: Metals generally have high density and high melting point. Except Potassium and Sodium as they can even be cut with knife. Non metals have low density and low melting point.

  • Conductivity: Metals are generally good conductor of electricity and heat. Non metals are poor conductors of heat and electricity the only exception is graphite.

  • States: Metals exist generally in the solid state. The only exception is mercury. Non metals exist generally in the liquid or gaseous state except Diamond which is the hardest substance in earth.

  • Oxides: Metallic oxides are generally basic in nature and non metallic oxides are generally acidic in nature.

Answer:

HERE IS YOUR ANSWER MATE:-

Metal Physical Properties:-

➡Lustrous (shiny)

➡Good conductors of heat and electricity.

➡High melting point.

➡High density (heavy for their size)

➡Malleable (can be hammered)

➡Ductile (can be drawn into wires)

➡Usually solid at room temperature (an exception is mercury)

➡Opaque as a thin sheet (can't see through metals)
