Answer:

whenever we observe an image of an object after reflection by spherical mirror, there can be a change in the size of the object.This means that the image formed can be larger than the object size, smaller or even of the same size as the object. This phenomenon of change in image size is known as magnification (m).

Magnification is defined as the ratio of the size of image to the size of object.

m = magnification

h1 = size of image h2 = size of object

Thus m = h1 / h2

Magnification of mirror or lens carry its sign.

The magnitude ( value ) of magnification tells about at what extent the size of image will be smaller or larger than object size...

Sign indicates the nature of image whether it is real or virtual..

If m is negative , image will be real

if m is positive , image will be virtual..
