A smooth sphere (mass 10 kg) rolls on a smooth curved surface from point A with a speed of 10m/s. The sphere reaches point D passing through point B. Find:-
(a) The total energy of the sphere at point A
(b) The KE and PE at point B
(c) The KE at C
(d) The KE at D
(e) Will the sphere go beyond D?​

e) Yes, Since it has KE of 2166 Jule at D.

Explanation:

a) total energy at point A of the sphere is

= PE + KE

=mgh+ 1/2(mv^2)

=10*9.8*20 + 0.5 *10*10^2

=1960 + 500

=2460 Jule

b) PE at B is zero so KE at B is = 2460 Jule

c) KE at C = 2460-mg*10

                 =2460-10*9.8*10

                 =1480 Jule

d) KE at D = 2460- mg*3

                 = 2166 Jule

e) yes, Since it has KE of 2166 Jule so it will go beyond D.
