1) a = Av/At, this implies that more the change in velocity in lesser time gives higher magnitude of acceleration.
In the third interval, from 8th to 10th second, the same velocity has gone zero in two seconds which was increased in 4 seconds in the first interval of Oth to 4th second.
Thus magnitude of acceleration is maximum in case of third interval.
ii) The retarding acceleration,
a = Av / At = -20/2 = -10 m / s²
And the force will be,
F = ma = 1000 X (-10)
F = -10000 N
Negative sign here shows that the force is acting opposite the motion of body.
iii) If no force is acting on the car, it means that there is no velocity change... which can be seen in the second interval of 4th to 8th second.
