Circumference is the lenth of cirle. Diameter is the longest chord. Ratio of c to its d is equal to Pie /d.

According to the statement,

\pi = \frac { \text {Circumference} } { \text {Diameter} }

where both circumference and diameter cannot be rational and hence either of them or both of them are irrational numbers and also if we multiply any value with the value of pi, the resultant value will also be irrational because the value of pi is irrational.

Thus,  

\pi = \frac { \text {Rational} } { \text {Irrational} } = \text {Irrational.}
