When current flowing through any conductor , heat is produced.
Heat energy produced in the conductor is
- Directly proportional to square of electric current I²→H∝I²
- Directly proportional to Resistance →H∝R
- Directly proportional to time taken.→H∝t
This is Joules Equation of Electrical heating
- H=I²Rt...(1)
where,
H = heat produced
I = electric current
R = Resistance
t = time
We also know that
By Ohm's law
- I = V/R...(2)
So, from equation (1)&(2)
H=V²t/R²
