Explanation:

At the very southernmost point of India, the state of Kerala hugs the Arabian Sea's shore on the west and is bordered by the Western Ghat on the east. This Indian state is located between the longitudes of 740 52' and 720 22' in the east and 80 18' and 120 48' in the north, with a coastline of 580 km from north to south. Its 38,368 km2 make up 1.18% of India's overall land area. In 2001, Kerala had a population of 318,41,374, consisting of 154,68,614 men and 163,72,760 women. 3.1% of Indians were members of it. The state's population density was 819/km2. An estimate of 3.99 lakh acres is the total irrigation potential. A vast network of rivers, rivulets, and springs is dispersed throughout Kerala. Only 18% of the State's net cropland is irrigated over the whole planted area. From 3.99 lakh hectares in 2005–2006 to 3.85 lakh ha in 2006–2007, the net area irrigated decreased. Wells (30%), public canals (26%), tanks (11%), and private canals (1.15%) are the main sources of irrigation. Coconut, which accounts for around 36% of the State's total irrigated crops, is the most important, followed by paddy (35%), banana (8.34%), arecanut (7%) and vegetables (5%).
