Solution :-

Let us assume that, there were x notes of Rs.500 in the bag .

so,

→ Rs.100 notes = (x + 1) .

A/q,

→ 100 * (x + 1) + 500x = 8500

→ 100x + 100 + 500x = 8500

→ 600x = 8500 - 100

→ 600x = 8400

→ 6x = 84

→ x = 14 .

therefore,

• Number of Rs.500 notes = x = 14 (Ans.)
• Number of Rs.100 notes = x + 1 = 15 (Ans.)
